She has been at Weber State University since August of 2003 serving in a variety of roles including college counselor for multicultural students, outreach program coordinator, and director of the TRiO-Educational Talent Search federal grant program.
In Fall 2008, she was appointed as the Director of Education Access and Outreach at Weber State University. Programs within the area focus on providing community outreach and educational access to post-secondary opportunities for underrepresented students. Efforts also focus on creating collaborations and connections of the university's educational outreach programs to better meet the needs of the local community. Initiatives also include extensive partnerships with local school districts through grant programs and services that involve college-readiness and guidance, academic support, parent involvement, and engaging the community in the importance of education and going to college. Ruth also enjoys being involved in the community by serving on various boards and committees including Partners In Education, Workforce Development with the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce, the Adult Education Advisory Board, UT ASPIRE supporting TRIO programs and the College Access Network of Utah.
She is committed and truly enjoys working with various students, families and partners from the campus and community to gain a stronger understanding of the work we do together in increasing college participation for under-represented students.Back to EAO Contact Staff
