Pre-Engineering students who take Pre-Engineering courses but decide not to receive the APE degree will still be able to transfer their WSU credits. For course requirements at engineering schools in Utah, consult the WSU catalog or contact the Pre-Engineering coordinator.

What are the employment opportunities?

After completing the WSU Pre-Engineering program, you can transfer your credits to another university that offers the engineering degree, where you will complete the junior and senior years, with courses in a specific engineering discipline.

Engineering graduates are eligible to become registered professional engineers by a process of examination and documentation of work experience. Engineering graduates are prepared for employment in various capacities such as design, analysis, research, development, manufacturing and testing. Companies that hire engineers include: ATK, Boeing, Dow Chemical, Evans & Sutherland, Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, Microsoft, National Instruments, Raytheon, TRW and the United States Government

Some engineering graduates pursue graduate studies in engineering, business, medicine or law.

What will I learn in the program?

Engineering study prepares people to make significant contributions to society. Engineers are innovators, interweaving advanced mathematics, engineering sciences, and engineering practices with considerations of economic, social, ethical and environmental issues to create new systems and products. 

When you complete the Pre-Engineering program, you will have a solid base in the engineering fundamentals which fully prepares you to study all the mainstream engineering disciplines such as biomedical, civil, chemical, electrical, and mechanical engineering.

In the Pre-Engineering program you will acquire a sound understanding of the physical sciences and mathematics that prepares you for the study of engineering, science, mathematics or law.
