About WSU Prep

WSU PREP is a free 7-week summer camp designed to prepare incoming 7th, 8th, and 9th-grade students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) by offering an accelerated curriculum preparing them for high school and college. 

The mission of IM PREP is to empower middle school students with a strong academic foundation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), inspiring and equipping them for success in future studies and careers.

Objectives


  • Create equitable access: PREP offers free, hands-on STEM experiences to engage students from all backgrounds, including those who are economically disadvantaged or first-generation college.

  • Motivate and Inspire Students: PREP provides opportunities for students to identify pathways to higher education and to be motivated and inspired to pursue careers in the STEM field.

  • Elevate Academic Preparation: PREP builds a strong foundation for STEM success by fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and a growth mindset through active learning.

  • Cultivate Responsibility and Resilience: PREP encourages exploration and perseverance, nurturing self-efficacy and personal accountability in a supportive learning environment.

  • Foster Meaningful Collaboration: PREP connects students with mentors, school districts, higher education, industry leaders, and the community, creating partnerships that enhance STEM engagement and long-term success.
