The new Computer & Automotive Engineering Building at WSU Davis opened fall semester.

The 51,000-square-foot building will help the College of Engineering, Applied Science & Technology (EAST) accommodate growth.

GSBS Architects designed the building, which was completed by R&O Construction. In addition to providing a location for computer science and software engineering courses, the building houses WSU’s automotive technology program. The $20 million building features six classrooms, a testing or “sandbox” environment for computer science and software engineering courses, and updated automotive shops, including a Tesla learning center and an engine test cell. The project also includes a new primary entrance to the campus from State Route 193.

WSU broke ground on the building on May 22, 2020, with a public ceremony.

“With this groundbreaking we begin creating a new, much-needed home for automotive and computing at WSU Davis,” said David Ferro, EAST dean. “We have an innovative, exciting space planned that will increase our capacity to educate students and support Utah’s workforce.”
