Weber State University’s effort to cultivate successful students is coordinated by the Student Success Steering Committee (SSSC), which is responsible for aligning student success initiatives and efforts to achieve the greatest impact for students.

Student Success Steering Committee (SSSC)

Purpose

Coordinate WSU’s effort to cultivate successful students.

The committee is responsible for aligning student success initiatives and efforts to achieve the greatest impact for students.

Develop, review and adjust student success strategies annually.

Charges

  1. Ensure the university's student enrollment, success and equity goals are met.
  2. Facilitate the alignment and coordination of student success initiatives, strategies, data and communication.
  3. Identify and reconcile any committee overlaps.
  4. Review the effectiveness of student success strategies and prioritize based on relevant strategic plan outcomes.
  5. Identify and address barriers to student success.
  6. Communicate SSSC priorities and strategies to the campus.
  7. Serve as the advocate group to central administration for student success resources.
  8. Refine and align planning processes to reflect centrality of student success goals:
    • Align strategic plans for Student Access & Success, Academic Affairs and other relevant areas.
    • Integrate the work of the SSSC with the University Planning Council.
  9. Integrate resource allocation with planning:
    • Rethink resource allocation with student success at the center.
    • Identify funds that support efforts to innovate for student success.
