The Phyllis Heart Guerts Memorial Scholarship

Phyllis "Heart" Geurts left a legacy of love and kindness through her passion and commitment to serving her family, friends, and many others in her community. Phyllis was recognized by the nickname "Heart” throughout her life because of the way she treated and supported those that she loved and served. Similar to how the heart pumps blood, she pumped motivation and words of encouragement to all those who felt her constant impact. Like the oxygen provided by the heart, she supplied her family and others with a constant flow of devotion and support. She filtered out the adverse effects of life with her sacrifice and love. Giving a glimpse into what she cherished the most, she was a mother of 9 children, a grandmother of 25 grandchildren, and a great grandmother to 19 great grandchildren. "Giving" was her motto in life and a source of fulfillment in every action and contribution she made. This scholarship reflects "Heart's” dedication and desire to live life through the promise to serve others in hopes of creating a positive impact on the world.
