What We Do & Who We Are

At the Technology Commercialization Office, we provide the following services for the Weber State Community:

1. We review intellectual property disclosures and consider the following two questions A) whether there is a market for the technology? And B) whether the intellectual property is protectable?
2. We seek intellectual property rights.
3. We license technology.

Technology Commercialization Office
James Taylor has extensive experience as an attorney working at a university environment and currently is not only the Director of the Technology Commercialization Office, but also the Director of Office of Sponsored Projects. Prior to coming to Weber State, Taylor worked at the University of Utah and successfully licensed twenty seven technologies, facilitated the formation of eight to ten startups with university developed technologies, and assisted in the formation of hundreds of collaborative research agreements. He graduated from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at University of Utah and Utah State University.
