- Building Policies
- In accordance with university policy, smoking or any tobacco use is prohibited inside and within 20 feet of the Stromberg Complex.
- Non-marking athletic shoes must be worn in the activity areas. Examples of prohibited shoes include, but are not included to, cleats, sandals, stocking feet and/or hard-soled shoes. Exceptions may be granted by the Stromberg Complex Facility Manager for special uses.
- Appropriate shirts or tops must be worn at all times in public areas.
- Mopeds, bicycles, hoverboards and electric scooters, with the exception of ADA designated assistance devices, are not allowed inside the Stromberg Complex.
- Skateboards, roller skates, inline skates, shoes with wheels and non-electric scooters are not allowed to be operated inside the Stromberg Complex.
- Pets, with the exception of service animals, are not allowed.
- Disorderly conduct, abuse of the facility, equipment or staff and/or disregard for the policies of the Stromberg Complex may result in immediate dismissal from the facility. Additional sanctions may also include: disciplinary action, reimbursement for damages, and/or potential suspension or forfeiture of membership.
- Climbing Wall
- All bouldering participants are encouraged to utilize the provided crash pads.
- Climbers are required to use the ropes and belay anchors that are provided. Ropes for lead climbing are provided by the Stromberg Complex & OP.
- Belay devices must be attached to the harness of the belayer by means of a locking carabineer. No figure 8s or GriGris are allowed for belaying.
- A figure 8 follow through knot with an appropriate finishing knot must be tied directly into the harness. Do not use a belay loop or carabineer.
- Harnesses must be doubled back at the waist and leg loop buckles when worn by the climber and belayer while climbing on ropes. This includes auto locking and manual locking harnesses.
- Do not climb past top-rope anchors.
- Proper footwear is required on the climbing wall: athletic shoes or climbing shoes only.
- Climbing shoes are available to rent at the Stromberg Complex front desk. No stocking or bare feet are allowed on the wall.
- No food, water or beverages are allowed in the climbing area.
- No headphones are allowed while climbing.
- No loose chalk may be used on the wall; chalk balls only.
- No jewelry is allowed in the climbing area.
- No cursing, loud or offensive language is permitted.
- No horseplay or roughhousing.
- The Climbing Wall staff has the right to remove anyone from the Climbing Wall for any violation of these regulations.
- Climb at your own risk.
- Equipment Checkout
- Only Stromberg Complex members and guests may check out equipment, including towels.
- All equipment must be returned by the close of the facility each day.
- Equipment is checked out on a first-come, first-served basis and may not be reserved.
- Equipment not returned by the close of business for the day will be considered lost and the individual’s membership will be suspended until the equipment is returned or payment of the following established replacement cost is made:
- Basketball (men’s and women’s): $75
- Indoor soccer ball: $40
- Pickleball racquet: $75
- Racquetball racquet: $30
- Tennis racquet: $35
- Towel: $10
- Volleyball: $40
- Weight belt: $75
- Lockers
- Day use lockers are available on the first floor of the complex and in the pool locker rooms.
- Rental lockers are available on a semester or annual basis. Women’s general rental lockers are located on the second floor. Men’s general rental lockers are located on the third floor. Lockers available for rent in the pool locker rooms are located on the third floor. Half lockers are $20/semester and full lockers are $40/semester.
- Items left in a day use locker overnight will be removed and taken to Lost & Found.
- Day use lockers are to be used ONLY while participating in activities at the Stromberg Complex.
- Administrative staff has the right to check any locker at any time.
- Rental lockers must be emptied and cleaned by the renter by the end date of the user agreement.
- When a rental locker is surrendered, the renter must inform the Stromberg Complex Facility Manager immediately.
- Members may renew their rental locker at any time prior to the end of the rental agreement. Failure to renew before the end of the rental agreement may result in the locker being rented to another member.
- Scheduling Guidelines
- The Stromberg Complex strives to meet the needs of all user groups.
- With the rising demand of the Stromberg Complex by internal and external groups, we recognize that not all facility requests can be honored and have therefore determined the following priority use list:
- Any activity or event deemed necessary to the function and promotion of the WSU brand as determined by the President’s Office.
- Any academic activity/class/program offered through the College of Education.
- Recreational sports programs and activities, including, but not limited to, intramural sports, sport clubs, fitness classes, informal recreation opportunities and related departmental special events.
- Recognized student organizations
- Campus community sponsored events
- External rentals
- All reservations should be requested through the Stromberg Complex Facility Manager or his/her designee. Facility rates and the facility request form can be found on the Stromberg Complex website.
- Swenson Gym
- Personal belongings should be left in lockers.
- Appropriate athletic footwear (non-marking shoes) must be worn at all times on the gym floor. Any athletic shoe that is dirty, scuffs or damages the court of floor is not permitted.
- Spikes are not permitted on the walking track.
- Wheeled devices are not allowed on the track, with the exception of ADA designated assistance devices.
- Shirts must be worn at all times, except during basketball challenge court games.
- Hanging on rims or nets and slapping the backboards is not permitted.
- Food and drink are not allowed on the gym floor with the exception of water contained in a spill-proof, unbreakable container.
- Spectators must watch from gym bleachers, benches or designated sideline areas.
- During drop-in gym time, play is on a first come/first served basis.
- Challenge court rules apply when others are waiting to play.
- Only certified indoor soccer balls may be used during soccer play.
- Swenson Pool
- Use of the natatorium without a lifeguard on duty is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, rental groups, athletic teams and those who have a current lifeguard certification.
- All members and guests who utilize the pool must be at least 16 years old or accompanied by a legal parent or guardian.
- Wear appropriate attire while utilizing the pool. Those members and guests who violate this policy will be asked to leave.
- We ask that all members and guests who utilize the pool first rinse off in the showers in the locker rooms adjacent to the natatorium.
- Persons with open wounds, wearing adhesive bandages or with known infections or sickness are not permitted in the pool.
- Food and drinks, other than water, are not allowed in the natatorium, except in the bleachers.
- No gum is allowed in the natatorium at any time.
- Glass containers are not allowed in the natatorium at any time.
- Doors are not to be propped open to ensure proper ventilation of the natatorium.
- Swim at your own risk.
- Strength & Cardio
- All patrons utilizing the strength and cardio equipment must be at least 18 years of age or a current WSU student.
- Patrons under the age of 18 must be directly supervised by a parent or gaurdian and are not permitted on any strength or cardio equipment.
- Proper athletic attire is required in the gym and activity studios:
- Footwear: Closed toe athletic shoes must be worn at all times, with the exception of mind and body group exercise classes. Dress shoes, sandals, deck shoes, cleats and black marking shoes are not allowed.
- All clothing and footwear should be free of dirt, mud, snow, etc.
- Personal items should be stored in a locker or available cubbies. Employees are not permitted to hold items for patrons. WSU is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- All weights, kettlebells, medicine balls, equipment attachments, and weight bars must be returned to appropriate rack after use. All equipment must remain in their designated strength and cardio area.
- Slamming or dropping weights is not allowed, with the exception of lifts performed on Olympic platforms.
- All equipment should be cleaned after use.
- Food, gum, tobacco, and beverages other than water are not permitted without prior consent from the professional staff. Refrain from mixing powdered drinks in the facility.
- There is a 30-minute limit on all cardiovascular equipment while others are waiting.
- Please share the equipment by permitting others to work in between sets. Limit lengthy rest between sets while patrons are waiting.
- For your safety, please abide by all staff requests.
- Patrons are prohibited from taking photos or video of other patrons in the facility.
- Headphones are required for all electronic devices that emit a sound.
- Personal training or private instruction is restricted to individuals specifically employed by WSU.
- Multipurpose studios may only be used for scheduled group exercise classes, personal training, and WSU approved activities.
- Failure to abide by policies and procedures may result in loss of user privileges.
- Wildcat Arena
- All patrons who utilize the cardio and weight equipment must be at least 18 years old, a Weber State Student or have prior authorization.
- Personal belongings should be left in lockers.
- Appropriate athletic footwear (non-marking shoes) must be worn at all times on the gym floor. Any athletic shoe that is dirty, scuffs or damages the court of floor is not permitted.
- Football cleats are never permitted in Wildcat Arena.
- Track spikes are to be used during officail WSU Track Practice or Meets.
- Shirts must be worn at all times.
- Hanging on rims or nets and slapping the backboards is not permitted.
- Food and drink are not allowed on the gym floor with the exception of water contained in a spill-proof, unbreakable container.
- Spectators must watch from gym bleachers, benches or designated sideline areas.
- During drop-in gym time, play is on a first-come/first-served basis.
- Challenge court rules apply when others are waiting to play.
- Only certified indoor soccer balls may be used during soccer play.
- Wear appropriate athletic attire including a top or shirt at all times. Denim is not allowed.
- Athletic rubber-soled shoes that cover the entire foot must be worn at all times. No sandals, spiked shoes, leather-soled shoes, flip flops and any shoes that leave a mark on the floor.
- Members must wipe down equipment after use. Disinfectant wipes are provided throughout the facility.
- Cardiovascular equipment use is limited to 30 minutes when people are waiting to utilize the equipment.
- Safety collars are to be used at all times to secure weights on barbells.
- Return all weights, plates, barbells and dumbbells to their proper storage areas and racks provided.
- Weight plates are not to be leaned against or on equipment or machines.
- Proper use of equipment is required at all times. Do not drop weights for any reason unless you are utilizing the Olympic platform.
- Using a spotter when lifting weights is recommended. Stromberg Complex staff on duty are not available as spotters.
- Use of chalk is not permitted.
- TV Policies
- Televisions throughout the Stromberg Complex are owned and operated by the Stromberg Complex.
- Only approved television stations will be broadcast in the facility.
- Approved television stations include all local programming (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and PBS), CNN, ESPN family of networks, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, Fox Sports family of networks, NCAA-affiliated networks (e.g. Big Ten Network, etc.), Olympic-affiliated networks and all Professional League Networks (MLB, NFL, MLS, NBA and NHL). To stay neutral in an ever-changing society, we will not honor requests for Fox News or MSNBC to be shown.
- Closed captioning should be enabled at all times in Wildcat Arena.

Use of Facilities/Amenities
Visitor Rights & Expectations
- Behavior
- The Stromberg Complex is a place for exercise, fun and relaxation. Abusive, vulgar or degrading language will not be tolerated. Any individual found in violation of this policy will be escorted out of the building.
- Facilities and equipment should be used for their designed purpose.
- Dunking is permitted on the basketball courts, however, hanging on the rim damages equipment and is not allowed (except to avoid injury).
- If intentional misuse or inappropriate use causes damages to occur to Stromberg Complex equipment or facilities, that/those member(s) and/or guest(s) will be responsible for the cost of the repair or replacement.
- Any individual not following appropriate policies or behaviors will be asked to leave the facility.
- Clothing & Footwear
- For safety reasons, we advise that all hats and jewelry not be worn during any activity.
- Street clothing, such as jeans, are not permitted for workouts. Appropriate athletic attire, such as t-shirts, shorts, warm-up suits, sweat suits or aerobic clothing is required at all times while recreating in the Stromberg Complex.
- Appropriate athletic footwear is required in all activity areas.
- Footwear that marks floor surfaces or is worn inappropriately is prohibited.
- Food, Beverage & Tobacco
- Personal food is allowed in non-activity areas of the Stromberg Complex only unless pre-approved for a special function.
- Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the Stromberg Complex unless for a pre-approved special function.
- Coolers are not permitted in the Stromberg Complex unless for a pre-approved special function.
- All food for an organized group activity must be coordinated through Sodexo.
- Those members and guests who are intoxicated or have the appearance/smell of intoxication shall be asked to leave the facility.
- The Stromberg Complex is a tobacco-free facility. Smoking or tobacco use in any form is prohibited.
- Water is the only permitted beverage in Wildcat Arena and Swenson Gym unless pre-approved by the Stromberg Complex Facility Manager.
- Lost & Found
- The Stromberg Complex is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Users of the Stromberg Complex are encouraged to store all personal belongings securely in lockers in the locker rooms or in cubbies provided throughout the building.
- Staff members are not permitted to hold equipment, valuables or bags for Stromberg Complex members or guests.
- Found items should be turned in to the Swenson Gym main desk.
- All items found within the Stromberg Complex will be held at the Swenson Gym main desk for three weeks. After three weeks, those items will either be donated or disposed of.
- Inquiries regarding lost items should be made to the Swenson Gym main desk.
- Media
- Requests for photography or video of the Stromberg Complex or its members and guests must be made in advance to the Stromberg Complex Facility Manager.
- Requests for news stories regarding the Stromberg Complex must be made through the Stromberg Complex Facility Manager or the Dean of the College of Education.
- Personal privacy of participants must be respected, and participants may decline to be included in Stromberg Complex media.
- A Stromberg Complex staff member must supervise any recording of photography in within the Stromberg Complex.
- Membership Privileges & Policies
- Membership Privileges
- The Stromberg Complex reserves the right to suspend or terminate any membership.
- Members and guests who violate Stromberg Complex policies or commit one or more of the following actions will be subject to suspension or termination of their membership or guest privileges:
- Entering the Stromberg Complex secure area without authorization
- Purposefully opening doors/gates to allow unauthorized people to enter the building
- The use of a WSU WildCard by anyone other than the cardholder
- Collusion in any of the actions stated above
- Appeals of a membership suspension will be heard after half of the suspension has been served. A formal written appeal must be submitted to the Stromberg Complex Facility Manager or his/her designee.
- Membership Policies
- Patrons must be at least 16 years old to purchase a day use pass. (Must provide a waiver signed by a parent)
- Guest passes are $6 per day and may be purchased at the Stromberg Complex.
- All guest pass users are required to sign in and sign the Stromberg Complex waiver.
- Faculuty and Staff Family passes may be purchased through the Human Resources Office.
- The Stromberg Complex reserves the right to refuse membership to anyone who has violated any WSU policy, the campus Code of Conduct, any Stromberg Complex policy or is not in good standing with the university for any reason.
- When a member’s membership has expired, he/she immediately forfeits all access rights to the Stromberg Complex until his/her membership is renewed.
- All members and guests will be required to fill out and sign the Stromberg Complex waiver form before participating in any Stromberg Complex activities. Members and guests who are under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by their legal parent or guardian.
- All members are required to have a WildCard or Stromberg Complex issued membership card for entry.
- The Stromberg Complex staff reserves the right to check photo identification when necessary.
- Members must abide by all Stromberg Complex policies, rules and staff requests.
- Members who allow unauthorized users access to the Stromberg Complex may have all membership privileges suspended or revoked.
- All new membership activations and renewals must be conducted in person at the Stromberg Complex.
- First time registrants will need to present a valid photo ID or a valid to purchase a membership.
- Non-student memberships are required to be paid in full at the time of purchase.
- All Alumni Association memberships must be obtained through the Alumni Association Office.
- Verification of status may be performed at the discretion of the Stromberg Complex Facility Manager or his/her designee.
- Children under the age of 16 are only permitted in the Stromberg Complex when directly accompanied by a parent/guardian.
- Children under the age of 16 are permitted anywhere in the building with their parent or guardian except for the climbing wall, cardio equipment and machine and free weights.
- Membership Cancellation/Refund/Transfer Policies
- There are no refunds for any membership except in the case of a medical necessity (which must be supported by a physician’s note) or death in the family (documentation is required). The amount of time missed due to either of these exceptions will either be credited to the member’s account or a prorated dollar amount will be refunded via check within 30 days of the request.
- A member may cancel his/her membership at any time, however refunds for canceled memberships will only be honored in the above stated exceptions.
- Stromberg Complex memberships are non-transferrable.
- Stromberg Complex memberships are not eligible to be suspended or “frozen” by the request of the member at any time regardless of the reason, except in the above stated exceptions or for sabbaticals, active duty military, etc.
- Membership Privileges
- Personal Belongings
- Personal belongings are to be stored in secure day lockers or in rental lockers (see locker policies). Cubbies can also be found throughout the Stromberg Complex, but they are not considered secure storage locations. All valuables should be stored in lockers.
- Locks are available for purchase from the Swenson Gym main desk for $5 each.
- Any lock left on a day use locker at the close of business will be cut.
- Any items left in the cubbies or lockers will be considered abandoned property and turned in to Lost & Found at the Swenson Gym main desk.
- Lost WildCards, driver’s licenses, etc. should be turned in to the Swenson Gym main desk.
- Privacy
- The Stromberg Complex respects your right to privacy. When you visit our website, you may be providing information to the university on two different levels:

- Personal information you knowingly supply

- How many people visit our site
- Which pages people visit on our site
