Guitar Classes
WSU String Project guitar classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Val A. Browning Center starting on Sept 30th 2024- Dec. 4th 2024. Fall Kickoff Orientation: Sept. 23rd, 7-8 p.m., Browning Center room 136

Beginning Guitar
1st Year Students - Brand New Beginners Start Here
To graduate, be comfortable with the following:
Reading Standard Notation (Treble Clef)
Rhythms: whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes
Time Signatures: 4/4 and 3/4
Playing in a large ensemble, chamber group, and solo
Performing basic rhythms up to eighth notes
Intermediate Guitar
2nd-3rd Year Students
To enroll, be comfortable with the following:
Reading Standard Notation
Performing basic rhythms up to sixteenth notes
Ability to play solo pieces
Ability to play in chamber ensemble
Comfortable with 3/4 and 4/4 time signatures
If a student is not comfortable reading standard notation they should take Beginning Guitar.
Materials Needed for Fall and Spring:
- Instrument
- Music
- Pencil
- Notebook with practice record/check off charts
Books to have for the School Year:
- Beginning: Essential Elements Book 1
- Intermediate: Essential Elements Book 2
