Concerto Competition Information

Registration for the Ogden Youth Symphony Concerto Competition is postponed.

Congratulations to Sarah Francis! Winner of the 2019 Concerto Competition.

She performed a solo accompanied by the Ogden Youth Symphony for the String Project concert on April 15, 2018.


Concerto Competition Information

The winner will perform as a featured guest artist with the Ogden Youth Symphony at their Spring Concert.
This opportunity is open to all musicians, age 18 and younger, who play a wind, string or percussionist instrument and attend school in Weber or Morgan County.

Previous winners of the concerto competition must wait 1 year before re-auditioning.

The winner will be required to attend multiple rehearsals, including the dress rehearsal and performance.  

The application fee is $30 per student. Below you will find the full list of rules for the competition as well as a list of approved repertoire.

Full Competition Rules

You must:

  • Play a wind, string or percussion instrument
  • Attend school in Weber or Morgan County
  • Not have won this competition the previous year
  • Play one movement of a piece on our “Approved Repertoire” list. If you would like to perform a piece that is not on this list, you may email us at stringproject@weber.edu and request permission to audition on your piece
  • Perform one movement of your chosen piece at the auditions with an accompanist. You will need to provide your own accompanist
  • Attend rehearsals as well as the dress rehearsal and performance.
    • Wednesday rehearsals are from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Weber State University Browning Center, Room 133.
    • Dress rehearsal will be from 4:00-4:45 p.m. on the Austad Stage in the Browning Center. The concert will be at 6:30 p.m.

To be eligible to audition, you will need to fill out and submit the application form and pay the $30 application fee.
