Project Overview
Ogden, Utah is situated beneath the Wasatch mountain range and is home to Weber State University and the upcoming net-zero home, built by WSU students, as a community showpiece demonstrating affordable housing through energy efficiency. Located at 2807 Quinc y Ave, Ogden UT, the 2,612 sq. ft. home will sit on an approximately .12 acres corner lot. The Craftsman style house will feature a detached garage, back entry and front porch area. An open concept main level creates sight lines from the front of the house to the back. This floor consists of the master bedroom, master bathroom, two additional bedrooms, full bathroom, living room, dining area, kitchen, mechanical closet, and laundry area.
Energy Analysis and Model
The homes Utility’s will run exclusively on electricity. The heating and cooling will be achieved with the use of Mini Splits The price configuration is based on the utility company, Rocky Mountain Power, as electricity supplier for the Weber County Area. The Energy Costs are calculated without renewable energy. With the
addition of renewable energy, the utility pricing with be 96 dollars yearly. This is a result of Rocky Mountain Powers required tie in and batter fee of 8 dollars a month.
