Financial Awards for Advanced Degrees and Professional Credentials

A.      As an educational institution, Weber State University recognizes the value of college degrees and professional credentials and encourages its employees to seek them.

B.      Financial awards for the completion of college degrees and professional credentials must be recommended by the appropriate vice president and approved by the president. These awards will normally be distributed in the form of an addition to the base salary. The amount of each financial award will be determined by the vice president based upon (1) the recommendation of the supervisor, (2) the level of the degree or professional credential earned, (3) consistency with previous awards for similar achievements and (4) the expected increase in proficiency and value to the institution.
