About
Weber State University is well-known for its emphasis on excellence in teaching, small class sizes and friendly interaction among faculty and students. WSU's Foulger School of Music is large enough to provide the atmosphere and motivation you need to excel, and personal enough to enable you to stand out as an individual. As an All-Steinway School, the Foulger School of Music is housed in the beautiful Browning Center for the Performing Arts, a state-of-the-art facility, with beautiful 7-foot Steinway piano practice rooms.
Piano students at WSU excel in performance, and have been chosen as top prizewinners of many state, regional, national, as well as international piano competitions, such as MTNA National Steinway Young Artist Competition (1st place National Winner), New York International Piano Competition, Seattle International Piano Competition, International Beethoven Piano Sonata Competition, and MTNA Southwest Division Steinway Young Artist Piano Competition.
WSU piano students have also taken first place in both the MTNA (Utah) Steinway Young Artist Collegiate Piano Solo Competition, and the UMTA Collegiate Piano Concerto Competition. Piano students who continue on to graduate schools have been accepted to world-renowned music schools such as Juilliard School, Eastman School of Music, the University of Michigan and the Cleaveland Institute of Music.
WSU piano students have also been chosen as eight-time winners of the UMTA Student Teacher of the Year award, four-time winners of the National MTNA Collegiate Chapter of the Year award, and have been awarded full teaching assistantships for graduate studies from leading piano pedagogy programs throughout the country.
