Apply to the PA Program

Application to the Weber State University (WSU) Physician Assistant (PA) Program is done through the Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA) system. The CASPA application cycle opens at the end of April each year.

The WSU PA Program application cycle closes annually on September 1 at 11:59 P.M. MST.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early. Once CASPA verifies and completes applications, the admissions committee will begin reviewing them.

Important Dates

 

  • April: CASPA application period opens
  • September 1: CASPA application due by 11:59 P.M. MST
  • Mid-September: Candidate interviews
  • October: Notification of admissions committee decisions
  • November: Program Acceptance form and seat deposit due to the PA Program two weeks following notification of acceptance 
  • January: New Student Orientation and classes begin

Admission Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution of higher education prior to matriculation
  • Cumulative GPA greater than 3.0
  • Science GPA greater than 3.0
  • Successful completion of required coursework prior to application
  • Physician Assistant College Admission Test (PA-CAT) - Required for all students
  • 500 hours of clinical healthcare experience
  • Evidence of clinical or academic leadership
  • Three letters of reference

Requirements for Matriculation

 

  • Immunizations: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Meningococcal Disease, Influenza and COVID-19
  • Proof of health insurance
  • Physical examination
  • Background check revealing no prior convictions that would result in failure to participate in clinical rotations or obtain state licensure
  • Negative drug screen
  • Technical Standards Attestation Form
  • No history of dismissal from another PA, medical or nursing program for academic or disciplinary reason
