Admission Process
Admission to the Weber State University (WSU) Physician Assistant (PA) Program is done through the following six steps.

1. Application Submission
Applicants to the Weber State University Physician Assistant Medicine Program must meet all of the program prerequisites as outlined on our Admission Requirements page and submit a formal application with all supporting documentation to the Central Application Service for the Physician Assistant (CASPA).
The CASPA application cycle opens for applicants annually in late April. Applications must be submitted and fully verified through CASPA on or before September 1 by 11:59 p.m. MST.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early.

2. Screening and Review
Application Screening
Once applications are verified by CASPA, the director of enrollment will screen candidates to confirm eligibility; candidates are then assessed for competitive candidate criteria. Top candidates will move on to be reviewed and scored by faculty or members of the Admissions Committee.Faculty Review
Faculty will score applicants on the following categories:- Academic strength (based on overall GPA, science GPA, and PA-CAT scores)
- Clinical healthcare experience
- Letters of recommendation (3)
- Competitive candidate criteria
- Kira Talent submissions
An application denial notification will be sent to candidates not advancing or who do not meet the minimum requirements.

3. Interviews
The primary purpose of interviews is to assess a candidate's motivation, knowledge of the PA role in healthcare, understanding of the program’s mission and goals, communication skills, critical thinking skills and emotional maturity.
Interviews can be exciting and terrifying. It is important for candidates to relax and showcase who they truly are.

4. Applicant Review
Following completion of all interviews, the Admissions Committee will meet to determine whether candidates are offered a seat, placed on the alternate list or denied admission.
There are many highly qualified applicants and admission to the WSU PA Program is very competitive. Achievement of prerequisites and selection factors does not guarantee admission to the program.

5. Notification
Candidates will be notified of their status no later than two weeks following the final interview session. If a previously filled seat becomes available before the new-student orientation in January, the Admissions Committee will review all candidates on the alternate list and select the most competitive candidate to fill any vacancy. These students will be notified as soon as possible.

6. Admission
If offered admission, candidates must complete the Program Acceptance form and pay a non-refundable seat deposit of $1,000 within two weeks of notification. All monies deposited will be applied toward the cost of tuition.
Deadlines may vary for candidates offered admission on or after November 1.
