Financial Education
The Office of Workplace Learning supports all aspects of work-life balance for employees, including their financial wellbeing. Financial wellness programs help employees make informed decisions about their finances. Participants learn skills to better manage their income and expenses, as well as tools for how to build financial security and wealth.
Financial Education Opportunities & Resources
Financial Wellbeing Course: Take the Financial Wellbeing course through the Bridge app in the eWeber portal. This is a self-paced online program that includes modules for budgeting, saving, debt and retirement. Each module includes educational information, links to online resources and activities to help you reach financial stability.
Finance 1010: Every two years, OWL provides a non-credit course of FIN 1010 for faculty and staff, offered as course #360-50 in Training Tracker. Participants will be reimbursed the cost of the textbook if they attend at least 90% of the 14-week course. Topics covered include budgeting, installment buying, borrowing money, buying a home, life and property insurance, personal investments and retirement planning.
TIAA Financial Webinars: Participate in TIAA financial essentials webinars. Employees can access monthly webinars on the TIAA website. Recordings are available on demand for 90 days following the live webinar date. Spanish speaking webinars can be accessed through the TIAA Spanish portal.
TIAA Consultations: Our TIAA retirement representatives conduct virtual and in-person appointments with employees on a monthly basis. If you are in the TIAA retirement system and would like to speak with a representative, you can make an appointment on their scheduling website.
URS Retirement Webinar: Join Utah Retirement Systems for an informational webinar on your URS retirement benefits. These webinars are created quarterly and give employees in URS information on their URS benefits.
Finance & Retirement Courses: We work with our financial vendors (TIAA, URS and Ascent Credit Union) to schedule periodic finance and retirement classes.
OWL Training Courses: OWL offers a variety of other financial education courses, including "Financial Wellness: Learn Your Finance Personality" (course #360-60 in Training Tracker).
