Biography
Karla Bergeson is an Ogden native and former corporate executive and legal counsel. Bergeson was elected chair of the Weber State University Board of Trustees in 2023 after serving the board since 2017. She began her legal career at General Electric’s corporate headquarters in Fairfield, Connecticut, before joining Citigroup in New York City. She retired as an executive vice president and deputy general counsel after a successful 23-year tenure with the Citi Cards business. Before embarking on her legal career, Bergeson worked for the former U.S. Congressman K. Gunn McKay in Washington, D.C., an experience that inspired her to pursue a law degree. Upon returning to Utah, she established an endowment at Weber State University in her mother's and aunt’s names to support students studying to become teachers. Bergeson is also active in nonprofit organizations focused on education, economic advancement, and leadership for women and girls.
