Biography
Senator Jerry W. Stevenson represents District 6, which covers parts of Davis county, including Layton, Syracuse and Clearfield. He was appointed to the Utah Senate in January 2010 and currently serves in Senate leadership as chair of the Executive Appropriations Committee.
Sen. Stevenson has served on numerous boards and commissions. He was the Senate chair for the Prison Relocation Commission and the Prison Development Commission, and is on Weber State University's Board of Trustees. Sen. Stevenson is also a member of the board of directors for the Military Installation Development Authority, the Utah Inland Port Authority, the Point of the Mountain Development Commission, and CommonSpirit - Holy Cross Hospital of Davis county.
Prior to his legislative service, Sen. Stevenson served on the Layton City Council for eight years and was the mayor of Layton for 12 years. During that time, he helped the city greatly expand its infrastructure and economic prosperity. When he’s not working at the Capitol, Sen. Stevenson runs his business, J&J Nursery. He and his wife Sue are the proud parents of five children and equally proud grandparents of 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
