Combined BS/MS Program
-
Students meet with the Department Chair to propose a master’s project and have it approved before the first semester of their senior year.
-
Rather than completing separate senior and master’s projects, students pursuing a project or thesis track, combine these projects into a two-year master’s project starting with ECE 4010/4020 and culminating with two semesters of ECE 6010 or ECE 6020. Students completing the master’s coursework track will instead take two additional graduate-level elective courses.
-
Students take two graduate-level courses before being admitted into the master’s program (typically during senior year). These courses can qualify for required elective courses for both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
-
Students work with the Department Chair to complete an Application for Experiential Credit for these graduate-level courses.
-
After grades are posted, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering will, for each eligible student, affix the chair's signature, mark the form with the department stamp, and send the form to the Office of the Registrar.
-
-
Students apply for admission into the master’s program during the last semester of their senior year before the application deadline. (Official transcripts from Weber State are not required and the GRE is required only if a student's GPA falls below 3.5.)
-
During their fifth (post-graduate) year, students complete the final course, thesis, or project requirements.
Please note that it is important for students to excel in their undergraduate coursework so their applications to the Master’s program will be successful. Students who are not admitted into the master’s program are still able to complete a bachelor’s degree.
