American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) is the gold standard for certification of medical laboratory personnel.
Below, find out the process for attaining your nationally recognized certification.
In order to maximize earning potential, students will want to become certified with the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). In addition, many healthcare laboratories settings will not hire non-certified laboratory personnel.
One month prior to graduation, students are eligible to start their ASCP exam application process, as follows:
AAS MLT successful graduates may sit for the ASCP MLT certification exam, via Route 1.
BS MLS successful graduates may sit for the ASCP MLS certification exam, via Route 1.
Also, students who successfully complete MLS 1010 Core Clinical Practices course may be able to qualify for MLA ASCP certification via Route 6 (with required work experience).
