After more than 30 years of hospital CEO experience, Steve Bateman has returned to his alma mater to share his insight and experience with Weber State students in the classroom as well as in one-on-one settings.
Professor Bateman holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in managerial economics from Weber State University as well as a Master of Business Administration with a healthcare finance emphasis from Utah State University.
He has held numerous executive roles within the healthcare industry, including positions as CEO of six hospitals including St. Mark’s Hospital, Ogden Regional Medical Center, Brigham City Community Hospital, and Pioneer Valley Hospital. Professor Bateman also served as Chairman of the Board of the Utah Hospitals & Health Systems Association. In addition, he has held numerous public/community service roles and is the recipient of the Distinguished Healthcare Executive Award from the Utah Hospitals and Health Systems Association, the Donald S. MacNaughton Award for excellence in healthcare executive leadership and exceptional service to the local community, and the “Outstanding Achievement in Support of Public Education” certificate from Granite Education Association and Monroe Elementary School in West Valley City, Utah. Professor Bateman also played a role in the initial establishment of Weber State's MHA program, and served for five years as an adjunct faculty member in the program prior to becoming a full-time faculty member. Perhaps most importantly, Steve mentored over a dozen assistant hospital administrators who eventually became successful hospital CEO's.
