Safe Zone Ally Training

Safe Zone is an educational program provided by the LGBT Resource Center. The purpose of Safe Zone is to foster safe and inclusive environments on campus and in the surrounding communities for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning people and their friends and families. In Safe Zone trainings we teach participants about LGBT topics including, but not limited to: what sexual orientation and gender are as well as what that means for individuals and the spaces they navigate. We also talk about how to be an Ally for people that may not be understood or may not have a voice in our communities.

We offer a general Safe Zone Training every month during spring and fall semesters as well as at least two Transgender 101 trainings a semester. We also offer Safe Zone Trainings for departments or other groups on campus and in the community upon request. We will tailor trainings for different groups based on their needs.
