Here you will find information about the courses I teach and other useful resources that will help you succeed as a Spanish major or minor at Weber State University.

I was born and raised in Spain, and immigrated to the United States in 1999. I hold a PhD in Comparative Literature from Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN) and a master's degree in Audiovisual Translation and Localization from the University of Cádiz (Spain). I have worked at WSU since 2006, and I teach a variety of courses, from lower-division basic and intermediate Spanish to upper-division content-based classes such as culture, literature, and translation and interpretation. My research focuses on Hispanic women's literature, pedagogical translation, and audiovisual translation. Nevertheless, I consider myself a Hispanic Studies generalist. I am a member of several professional associations such as the American Translators Association, the Utah Translators and Interpreters Association and the Utah Foreign Language Association.

In my spare time, I enjoy the outdoors and mountain sports such as running, biking, hiking, and skiing; I also enjoy reading historical fiction and crime novels, and I love playing board games.

Soy natural de Don Benito, Badajoz (España); licenciada en Filología Inglesa por la Universidad de Extremadura (Cáceres) y Doctora de Literatura Comparada por Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN). Llegué a EE.UU. en 1999 para estudiar un Máster de Literatura y Cultura Hispanas. Después de vivir durante 7 años en algunos estados del este del país, en el 2006 me mudé a Ogden, Utah, donde trabajo desde entonces como Profesora Titular de Literatura y Cultura Española, Traducción e Interpretación. Actualmente soy catedrática y directora del departamento de Filologías. Recientemente me gradué del programa del Máster en Traducción Audiovisual y Localización de la Universidad de Cádiz (España). Soy miembro de diversas asociaciones profesionales como American Translators Association, Utah Translators and Interpreters Association y Utah Foreign Language Association.

En mi tiempo libre, me gustan los deportes al aire libre y de montaña como correr, montar en bici, hacer senderismo y esquiar; también disfruto de la lectura de novelas de ficción histórica y policíaca, y me encanta jugar a juegos de mesa.
