• Mission Statement

  The MSSE program is an industry-based program that will engineer better solutions for a better world. In this context, the program's mission is to:

  • Provide students with a high-quality education, virtual class options, and the opportunity to succeed at school while working
  • Educate and mentor students to promote systems thinking and prosperity while protecting the planet
  • Create systems that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental quality
  • Incorporate industry needs and global megatrends of digital transformation, sustainability, and complexity growth
  • Incorporate technology trends such as advances in materials and manufacturing, advanced modeling and simulation, the data sciences, and digital transformation

    Graduates of the WSU MSSE program will have an ability to:

  Evaluation of student work includes exams, quizzes, laboratory reports, and case studies.	X
  Industrial Advisory Council recommendations		X
  Graduate Survey A 5 question survey instrument administers biennially. This survey inquires for industry certifications - INCOSE SEP, OMG, Sysml, PMI PMP, ASQ, & IREB			X
  High Impact Educational Experiences in the Curriculum HIEEs include capstone courses and experiences, community-engaged learning, evidence-based teaching practices, internships, project-based learning, study abroad/away, supplemental instruction, team-based learning, undergraduate research, pre-professional/career development experiences.	X

  Following the above schedule, the assessment committee will convene during the assigned times to review the effectiveness of course delivery in achieving department objectives, industry needs, and to establish a Course Assessment Plan,
  
  The Plan includes summary evidence of:

  • How the course currently satisfies the student learning outcomes
  • Industry needs being met
  • Investigation and identification of emerging technology trends

  
  Evidence of learning for a specific student learning outcome is deemed successful if the associated assessment measure is 2.8, on a 3.0 GPA scale, or above.
  
  Program recommendations will be compiled by Spring semester and submitted for approval by both MSSE Faculty and MSSE Industry Advisory Council, effectively closing the loop and this engaging department action toward addressing deficiencies in achieving student learning outcomes. Recommendations for improvement will be implemented during the subsequent year indicated in the schedule above.
