Human Trafficking & Exploitation Symposium

Policies, Prevention and Procedures

The 2024 Human Trafficking and Exploitation Symposium at Weber State University will address human trafficking and other forms of exploitation, such as sextortion and internet grooming. This year’s symposium will highlight risk factors for victimization, prevention strategies, and reporting processes. Community partners will be available on site to support attendees and share resources. The symposium aims to raise awareness and bring together community stakeholders to invoke change around human trafficking and sexploitation in the state of Utah.

Food: The first 100 people to register will receive lunch at the Human Trafficking Symposium. Registrants will receive an email before the event confirming they will receive free lunch on October 22. If you are not one of the first 100 people, you can find additional information about dining options on campus on the Dining Services website.

Parking: Attendees can park in the Public Pay Lot located near the Student Services Center, ride the UTA Wildcat Shuttle for free from the Dee Events Center or purchase a day pass on the Parking Services website

Certificate of Completion: By attending this symposium, participants are eligible to recieve a certificate of completion. This certificate can be used for six in-service hours of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) for law enforcement officers. Alternatively, participants can pursue professional development hours or licensure requirements affiliated with your profession using this certificate. To request a certificate of completion, contact Molly Sween (mollysween@weber.edu).

This event would not be possible were it not for the partnership between the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences and the Department of Criminal Justice.
