Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
AHA PALS Provider "Initial"
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is designed to provide healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children to help improve outcomes. The course uses a scenario-based, team approach to teach pediatric emergency management of pediatric patients approaching, or already in, respiratory or cardiac arrest. The course covers treatment beyond the first few emergency minutes and goes through stabilizing patients or transport phases of a pediatric emergency, in or out of the hospital. Successful completion of the class results in the issuance of the American Heart Association PALS Provider card evidencing this accomplishment. A current PALS provider manual is required to attend. If you do not own the updated version, you must purchase before or the day of class.
Audience
PALS is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies with children. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units. The AHA’s course is the premier ACLS training for healthcare providers. The evidence-based content and well-tested teaching methodology can dramatically improve the learning and retention of lifesaving skills.
