US Health Promoting Campuses Network

Weber State is a member of the US Health Promoting Campuses Network (USHPCN), a support network that helps campuses define and create strategies and metrics that help them develop into health promoting campuses.

Okanagan Charter

The purpose of the USHPCN is to facilitate, advance, and promote the adoption of the Okanagan Charter: An International Charter for Health Promoting Universities & Colleges for U.S. Colleges and Universities. The adoption of the Okanagan Charter as an aspirational document formalizes an institution's journey toward campus wellbeing utilizing a comprehensive systems and settings-level approach.

As Weber State mobilizes our efforts toward comprehensive wellbeing on campus, we are guided by the Okanagan Charter which provides institutions with a common language, guiding principles, and a vision for the wellbeing of person, place, and planet. The Okanagan Charter outlines two calls to action:

  • Embed health into all aspects of campus culture, across the administration, operations and academic mandates.
  • Lead health promotion action and collaboration locally, nationally and globally.

Weber State intends to proceed toward formal adoption of the Okanagan Charter in the near future.
