Commencement & Convocations

Weber State holds one general commencement ceremony celebrating all graduates in the spring. Graduates do not walk the stage or receive their diploma at this event, but celebrate their accomplishments as a group. There are speakers and musical numbers performed after graduates walk in and sit together at the beginning of the ceremony.

Convocation ceremonies are held in both the fall and spring. They are split up by college (for example, Jerry & Vickie Moyes College of Education, College of Science, etc.). There are usually speakers and then the graduates walk across the stage while their names are read.

Neither ceremony is mandatory, but we encourage students to attend both if possible. Guests are welcome to attend both graduation ceremonies.

Weber State does not hold commencement in the summer. Summer graduates are allowed to attend either the spring or fall graduation ceremonies but should still apply for summer graduation.
