Registration Questions

• What do I do if a class that I want is full?

  Your best option is to add yourself to the waitlist.

• How do I get a course override?

  Course overrides can only be granted by the department that holds the class. For instance, a course override for QUAN 2600 would be done by the economics department. A course override for BSAD 4780 can only be done by the Business Administration department.

  Overrides can be done when the registration system is not recognizing that you have the prerequisite for the class. Overrides for classes in the Goddard School are typically not done to allow students to take a class without the prerequisite.

• Am I allowed to take a course and its prerequisite at the same time?

  Prerequisites must be taken before you take the course. The only way this can be overridden is by the department that holds the class.

Degree Progress/Grades

• How do I view my CatTracks degree evaluation?

  Log into the CatTracks app in eWeber. If you would like to see your progress in a degree before declaring that major, use the “What If” link on the left side of the screen.

• How do I check my grades?

  The best way to check your grades is through CatTracks. You can also view an unofficial transcript in eWeber.

• What does it mean to be put on academic probation or suspension?

  This means that you are not meeting the university’s GPA standards. You can be placed on Academic Warning, Probation or Suspension. See WSU’s Academic Rules, Regulations and Standards for more information, and schedule an appointment with an advisor.

• What is an Academic Renewal?

  Academic Renewal gives you the opportunity to recalculate your GPA by discounting courses with grades of D+ or lower that were earned at WSU 6+ years ago. Visit the Academic Renewal site for complete information.

• How do I calculate my GPA?

  Your GPA should appear in CatTracks, but if you want to calculate your GPA for a semester, you can use WSU’s GPA Calculator.

  You can also use CatTracks’ “GPA Calc” to see what grades you would need to earn in order to reach a specific GPA.

• I think I’m ready to graduate, what should I do?

  Fill out the Graduation Application in eWeber. The Advising Center will check your credits once you’ve applied and contact you if we see any potential issues.

Transfer Students/Outside Credits

• What should I do if I am a transfer student?

  1. Talk with WSU Admissions to be admitted to the university.

  2. You will send all transcripts from previous schools to WSU. Those transcripts will be entered and the credits will be articulated. This process takes 4-6 weeks. When your credits are posted, you will be able to view them in your CatTracks degree evaluation. Use the WSU Transfer Guide to see how your credits are likely to transfer.

  3. Once your credits are posted and have been articulated, contact our Advising Center to schedule an appointment. At that point, we will be able to give you an exact outline of which classes you will need.

  If you transfer classes that haven’t been articulated before, our departments must review the credits to decide how they will transfer. If you notice a class didn’t transfer, and you would like the department to look at it, contact the Advising Center to do a Transfer Summary.

• Can I take classes at another institution and transfer them to the Goddard School?

  Yes, however, you must get approval from the department before taking the class to ensure that it is our direct equivalent. You can view the online Transfer Guide to view possible equivalencies. If you have already attempted the class at WSU, you cannot complete the course at another institution.

• I have AP or CLEP credits. How can I post those to my transcripts?

  You must fill out the online Application for Test Credit, provide WSU with your scores, and pay a $10 processing fee in order to have your credits posted to your transcript.

• GSBE Transfer Petition Process

  In their articulation of transfer credits from other institutions of higher education, students may have courses that lack an equivalent at Weber State or do not transfer as courses within Goddard School of Business & Economics. The transfer course may be articulated as departmental elective credit (e.g., MATH 1XXX, PSY 1XXX) or general elective credit (e.g., ELEC 1XXX).  If you believe a course has been misevaluated, you can request a review of the articulation by completing a transfer petition.

  Select this link to open the transfer petition. Incomplete transfer petitions will not be accepted. The Goddard School of Business & Economics Academic Advisors will forward all completed petitions to the appropriate chair for review, the department chair makes a final decision about whether the transfer course satisfies the relevant course learning outcomes and should thereby satisfy the requirement at Weber State.   The Goddard School of Business & Economics Academic Advisor will make a CatTracks note on the ruling, and record the necessary exception, in the student’s official academic record.

Returning to School/Second Degrees

• I’m thinking of coming back to school. What should I be aware of?

  If you took classes in the Goddard School more than 10 years ago, there is a good chance you will have to repeat those courses. General education classes do not expire, but math classes may have expired, depending on when you took them.

  Contact an advisor to set up an appointment to review your credits. If it has been several years since you attended WSU, you may need to contact WSU Admissions at 801-626-6534 to reactivate your file.

• I’ve already received a bachelor’s degree but would like to come back to do a second degree with the Goddard School. What do I do?

  Email your intended major and unofficial transcripts from your first degree to advisebusiness@weber.edu. Our departments will evaluate your credits, and we will send you a second degree contract for your review.

• Who do I contact if I’m interested in one of your master’s programs?

• Can I do my program online?

  None of the Goddard School programs can be completed entirely online.

• How do I declare my major?

  You can declare your major by visiting the department office associated with your field of interest, or through the Advising Center office.

• Are there student clubs and organizations that I can be involved in?

  Yes! Most of our majors have an associated club. For more information, visit the Goddard clubs page.

• Who should I talk to about career/internship opportunities?

  Once you are admitted into the Goddard School of Business & Economics:

• How do I find an internship?

  Internships for credit are not allowed until you have been admitted to the Goddard School of Business and are a senior. All internship announcements are sent out by our Career Services Center. If you have been admitted to Goddard and would like to be added to the internship list:
