CASE COMPETITION BENEFITS

• Students assume the roles of business and economics executives to take real-world corporate problems and craft innovative solutions, based on curriculum best practices, to a panel of company executives and professors.
• Case competitions introduce students to cross-collaboration, teamwork and critical thinking while providing a uniquely different experience. 
• Work with your peers, advisors and mentors to practice overcoming business challenges and develop critical analytical skills.
• Connect with industry professionals and college professors.

CREATING YOUR TEAM

• Teams will consist of three (3) members.
  • Select team members who have expertise in the focus areas of the case. See case topics 
• Age/Grade requirements: Open to students in grades 9-12
• Teams may only compete in one case. 
• Members of each team should be from the same school (contact us for exceptions). 

STRUCTURE

• Teams will register for only one of the cases. 
• Teams will be given the case one week prior to the event. 
• Teams will spend the week analyzing the problem, developing a solution, and creating a professional presentation.
• Teams will be given a presentation time at random the day of the event.
• The top four teams from each case will be awarded as semi-finalists and move to the twist round.
• The top 12 teams will be given one hour to prepare a twist (without advisor assistance)
• Semi-finalists will pitch with the twist for the grand prize.

CASE MENTORS & JUDGES

• Each team will have four (4) judges who will also act as mentors. Judges will be comprised of two corporate representatives, one Weber State University, Goddard School of Business & Economics professor, and one other individual. 
• The week prior to the event, mentors and judges will host a one-hour Zoom call where teams can ask questions and gather more information about the case.  Attendance is optional, but will provide an advantage for those who attend.
• All 12 judges will score the final twist round. Judges will have additional scoring criteria for the cases they are affiliated with.
• The winning team will be decided on overall points scored. In the case of a tie, the team who scored the highest in the semi-final round will be declared the winner.
