WHY WEBER STATE?

There's a bit of a family legacy with Weber - both of my parents went here, and both of my siblings as well. It's also close to my house, and I got a full-ride scholarship.

WHY ACCOUNTING?

I took an accounting class my last semester in high school, and I had a great teacher. I remembered the class, and I did well. So when I came back from my mission I chose accounting, and I found it suited me.

PERSONABLE AND FLEXIBLE

I really like the personable nature of the classes at Weber State. All of the professors know who you are and are ready to help you learn. I like the flexibility as well - I was able to get a full-time job while going to school.

FACULTY IMPACT

All of my accounting professors were great. Lisa Hopkins knew my boss at work, so she was always chatting with me after class. The class she teaches is hard, but she does a really good job of teaching it. The concepts are difficult, but she made them understandable.

ADVICE

Talk to the teachers. They are there to help you, and if you have something come up, email them. Most of the time they are willing to work with you with whatever you are dealing with. Do the homework. I know people who don't do it, but you're paying to do it, so do it.

WHAT'S NEXT

I have an internship with Deloitte starting in January, and then I'll come back for my masters and get my CPA, and hopefully end up working for Deloitte in 2026. I want to do auditing, that's what my internship is for.
