ROBERT
supply chain management '21 outstanding graduate
“ I started this journey thinking I would keep my head down and just graduate. Instead, the Goddard School gave me teaming skills, presentation skills, analytical skills, and an experience I will always remember.”
WHY WEBER STATE?
For years I worked low-paying jobs for companies that wouldn't promote me because I lacked a degree. I went unappreciated and unnoticed. I kept driving by the Weber State Davis Campus and I finally signed up one day. I did it to give a better life to my family. I did it for myself. I am so proud to be graduating. I can finally set a good example for my daughter. Shoot for the stars, Phoebe! Anything is possible!
WHY SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT?
I took an Economics class with a fellow student named Cameron Loftus. I heard him talking about what a great major Supply Chain Management was. After doing a little research, I decided to try out the SCM 3050 class. The rest is history.
INCREDIBLE ACCESS
The Goddard school gave me small class sizes and professors who care. I started this journey thinking I would keep my head down and just graduate. Instead, the Goddard School gave me teaming skills, presentation skills, analytical skills, and an experience I will always remember. In April 2021, I competed in a National Supply Chain Case Competition in Minnesota. We we went up against prestigious schools with much higher tuition rates. Weber State took 1st place. It wasn't just luck. We won last semester too. The Goddard School makes winners.
FACULTY IMPACT
Dr. Francois Giraud-Carrier taught a few lectures in my SCM 3050 class. He made Supply Chain Management so fun! I realized that I wanted to make Supply Chain Management my major. Dr. Giraud later served as an advisor for the Supply Chain CATS club. He has been a mentor and a friend. He believes in his students and helps them succeed.
ADVICE
When you attend the Goddard School, don't just attend your classes. Get involved! Join a club, compete on a team. Take advantage of all the services and opportunities provided. Weber State is an amazing place full of possibilities. It's especially amazing for non-traditional students, like myself. The evening classes, online classes, small class sizes and incredible professors made this all possible for me. It's never too late to go back to school. It's never too late to finish something. It's never too late to make your dreams come true.
WHAT ARE YOUR CAREER ASPIRATIONS?
I just got my dream job as a buyer for Northrop Grumman. I feel empowered and capable of accomplishing anything. I am not done. I will be in the C-suite one day.
