WHY WEBER STATE?

I’m proud to be a 3rd generation Weber State graduate! I grew up in Layton close to Weber State and I’ve seen firsthand how prior graduates in my family have been able to utilize their positive experiences at Weber State to further their professional careers and knew that Weber would be a great fit for me.

WHY FINANCE?

---

I’ve always been interested in business and knew that I wanted to do something within the Goddard School of Business but I struggled to choose a major. After taking some general classes required for most of the majors, I decided I was most fascinated with finance and that it was what I wanted to major in!

INCREDIBLE ACCESS

The Goddard School has awesome professors and smaller class sizes that really allow you to build personal connections. COVID presented many unique challenges to both students and the university, the faculty did a great job at quickly pivoting to a remote learning environment. Professors were flexible and available to assist and technology was made available to successfully operate in a virtual environment.

FACULTY IMPACT

I enjoyed all of my professors in my time at Goddard, but I would like to give special appreciation to a few of them. Terrilyn Morgan and Yuhong Fan are awesome! If you major in finance you are going to end up taking courses from them but even if you aren’t, I would highly recommend taking a course from them anyway! They were so helpful in teaching the skills that I will need in the job field to be competitive and they genuinely care about their students! I would also like to give appreciation to Brett Merrell who does an awesome job at finding and informing students about upcoming job opportunities. Brett makes it known that he always has an open door and if you ever need any kind of career help is a great person to talk to.

Weber State provides great value to students by striking the perfect balance between providing a high-quality learning experience while also being offered at an affordable price point.  Get involved with clubs and activities and make the most of the experience!  All of the professors and staff at the Goddard School are more than willing to talk with you and help you achieve your goals, all you have to do is reach out.

WHAT ARE YOUR CAREER ASPIRATIONS?

After graduation my plan is to find a job and start my career in finance where I can gain some work experience and possibly in the future go and obtain a Master’s degree!
