WHY ACCOUNTING?

---

Initially I came to Weber State because I got a scholarship. I was interested in being a teacher, and I knew Weber State had a great teaching program; I also was considering accounting based on my brother and father receiving an accounting degree from Weber State. So, I took some teaching courses and some accounting courses, and realized I really enjoyed my accounting courses - I thought the information was fascinating and really felt, at this time, accounting would be more beneficial for my future. I figured I could incorporate teaching later in life if I wanted to.

PASSION FOR AUDITING

The auditing class was my favorite class. I work in auditing now, and the class I took at Weber State was what convinced me. I enjoyed the tax classes – they were great, but auditing is where my passion is.

FACULTY IMPACT

---

Valerie Chambers, who taught my auditing class, was awesome – I learned so much from her. I really enjoyed Matthew Thue’s business law class; he made the class fun. This last semester I took Ryan Pace’s tax class – I’ve really enjoyed that. Overall, all the faculty in the Business School are great. Every one of them wanted me to succeed. Weber State's Accounting faculty is one of the greatest reasons for my success.

ADVICE

Never be afraid to ask for help. I’m the worst at asking for help, I usually just try to figure it out on my own. But the teachers will help you and have genuine interest in you.

WHAT'S NEXT?

---

I started the Masters in Accounting program as well as finishing up my undergraduate work this semester (it’s been a very busy semester!). My plan is to finish the Masters in Accounting program, continue working as an auditor, and eventually become a licensed CPA.
