WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU AS YOUR STUDENT SENATOR?
As a student senator for the Goddard School of Business & Economics, I represent you at the university. If you have a question, concern or comment, feed me with feedback, I'd love to help you or improve the college and university. Feedback is anonymous unless you prefer to leave your name.
WHY WEBER STATE?
I have always had the goal of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree. However, I knew that if I didn't start right away, I probably never would. So, when I finished high school a year ahead of schedule, I began early college here at Weber State University. I had grown up visiting WSU, and lived nearby. Because of WSU's flexibility and convenient location, I chose to be a Wildcat! I didn't have a true picture of what I wanted to do, but I knew that I loved math and organization, so the Goddard School of Business and Economics seemed like a good fit.
WHY BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION?
After much stress and deliberation, I discovered that my true love is teaching and mentoring. Since my Major is Business Administration and my Minor is Accounting, this gateway degree will set me up perfectly for an array of careers I will hopefully enjoy and even love.
INCREDIBLE ACCESS
Goddard is an incredible college! The professors are unlike any other. They truly care about their students, and intentionally pour into their lives. In addition, the advisors, staff, and Dean Mouritsen are so knowledgeable and open. They sincerely are invested in your well-being, and work hard to provide you with many opportunities for the brightest future.
ACTIVITES / CLUBS
I have currently been given the opportunity to serve Goddard as the College of Business and Economics Senator. This experience has been nothing but positive, insightful, and oh so enjoyable! I have learned so much, grown so much, met so many incredible people, and have been able to give back to a school that has helped shape me into the person that I am today.
FACULTY IMPACT
There are so many incredible faculty and staff members in the Goddard School that have positively impacted my life. Here are some examples of the wonderful caliber of individuals who work in the business school. First, Dean Matthew Mouritsen, who is one of my mentors, has been such an incredible ally for me during challenging times. He has given me so much life advice, and is always willing to meet with me and just talk. He values each and every one of his students, and it is evident in everything that he does. Secondly, Professors Lisa Hopkins and Matthew Gnagey have both spent so much time pouring into my education, and my life in general. I wouldn't be where I am today without both of their dedication to my future. They are my inspiration for teaching and the type of teacher I aspire to be one day. There are also many other faculty and staff members I could celebrate all day! Goddard School of Business and Economics is filled with so many genuine, intentional, and incredible people.
ADVICE
First of all, you have made a wonderful choice! You are going to grow in so many ways. Secondly, talk to your professors! They are there for you, and want to help you. There is so much more to learn from them than just Marketing or Accounting. Thirdly, get involved! There is so much to gain at WSU, but there is also so much to give. Joining student government is one of the best decisions that I have made while being in college. Lastly, enjoy it! Make connections, meet new friends, learn something valuable, eat some free pizza, and smile through it all. Because when it's all over, you will finally realize all that it was and all that you had.
WHAT DOES BEING AN OUTSTANDING GRAD MEAN TO YOU?
Recently, I was given the honor of Outstanding Graduate. I never expected this recognition, and I feel so blessed to even be considered. I never could have accomplished all that I have in the past 4 years without the love and support of my Savior Jesus Christ, my incredible family, my wonderful friends, and all of the amazing individuals at Weber State who have made my time here so memorable. Not only did the Goddard School teach me Business and Economics, but it also taught me the value of having a purpose, serving people, and being genuine. I cannot wait to apply all that I have learned on my next adventure. Although I did not know what I wanted to do when I started school, this journey has shown me how much I love teaching. Thus, I am now pursuing a career teaching Business to High School students. I look forward to being an hour of calm in a student’s crazy life, or sparking a love for business in their heart. I have truly loved my time at Weber State University and the Goddard School of Business and Economics. As I move on, I will always remember and cherish every memory that I have made here, the people that I love here, and the opportunities that I have been given here.
WHERE ARE YOU NOW? WHAT ARE YOUR CAREER ASPIRATIONS?
After many years of stressful discovery, I finally have a desired direction for my future. Through helping my fellow students, I learned how much I loved teaching and mentoring others. People are so important to me, and I can't wait to pour into them the same way that so many individuals at Weber State have poured into me. Currently, my goal is to finish my Bachelor's in Business Administration with a Minor in Accounting. Then, I would like to get some work experience in the business world, and go on to get my MBA. Eventually, my goal is to be teaching or advising high school or college students in all things business.
