“If you put in the work, you will have a hard time not succeeding."
MY EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY
I'm originally from the Washington, D.C. area. I went into government relations, but ended up working my way into an HR benefits specialist role. I started going to George Mason in pursuit of my degree, then moved to Utah to be with family, transferred to Weber State to finish my degree, and worked part-time at Intermountain Health Care during my education. I knew when I came to WSU that I wanted to pursue Human Resources Management.
MY EXPERIENCE
I've had a really good experience at Weber State. I've enjoyed the professors, and the small classes. You get to know people.
PROFESSOR INFLUENCE
Rachel Child and Rodney Belnap were great - all of my professors were very caring, and you can see that they want to see you succeed. They care that you're learning the material; but more importantly, applying it in your life.
ADVICE
Find the balance that works for you in your life. We all juggle responsibilities with work and family. I wanted to know that when I came out I had put my best in, which for me meant that I put in a lot of hours studying. I did the work and reached out to professors when I needed help. I find that if you put in the work you will have a hard time not succeeding.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Going forward, I plan to pursue work in Human Resources.
