"With the smaller class sizes, it felt like individual learning.”
WHY SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT?
When I initially started my degree, I was doing Business Administration, then switched to Accounting, then switched to Finance, and then lastly, I got into Supply Chain. I chose it because both of my older brothers work in Supply Chain and they said, “You should do that.” It’s a good fit for me. As soon as I took a few classes I thought, “This is the one.”
INDIVIDUAL LEARNING
One of my favorite things is how close and tight-knot our group was. I was taking classes with a lot of the same students so I really got to know them well. And we had a lot of the same instructors, so we got to have significant time with teachers as well. With the smaller class sizes, it felt like individual learning.
FACULTY IMPACT
Ben Neve – we get along really great and I learned a lot from him. But I can speak highly of every professor. They each have taught me something new that I know I’ll use in my field.
ADVICE
Try things that you wouldn’t be comfortable doing. Initially I did not get out of my shell, I just had my head down. But this last couple of semesters I’ve had opportunities to participate in a few extra things. I got to go to the Supply Chain Case Competition and that was an awesome experience. Try new things. Have fun.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Currently I work for Hill Air Force Base in contracting. I really enjoy that, I plan to stay there and start my Master’s in a year or so. I like Purchasing and Supplier Relationships, I may focus there.
