ABRAHAM
supply chain management '22 (outstanding grad)
“I enjoyed the small class sizes and access to the faculty. Professors were eager to help and made themselves available outside of class for additional assistance. There are also some great scholarships available for Goddard students."
WHY WEBER STATE?
I attended SLCC for my A.S. in their fast track Accelerated Business Degree program. Being a Davis County resident and employed full-time, I knew I wanted to transfer to a campus in close proximity to my home and work. At the time, I was working from home, but secured a job at TAB Bank at the same time I was accepted at WSU. I couldn't ask for better timing and proximity.
WHY SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT?
I chose Business Administration initially to get the ball rolling. I wasn't satisfied with specializing in any particular area at the time. After taking SCM 3050 in the Spring of 2020 I knew I had to pursue SCM at some level. After much deliberation over a SCM minor or major I opted to declare a dual major, adding an additional year of study.
INCREDIBLE ACCESS
I enjoyed the small class sizes and access to the faculty. Professors were eager to help and made themselves available outside of class for additional assistance. There are also some great scholarships available for Goddard students.
FACULTY IMPACT
Francois Giraud-Carrier had the biggest impact on my decision to pursue SCM as a double major. Francois is a real champion of the SCM program and he persistently and with gentle urging persuaded me to take the program. Francois' enthusiasm and knowledge changed the course of my academic focus. Another honorable mention is James Taylor. James provided a class environment where he constantly challenged us to analyze and dig deeper into the material. His professionalism and body of knowledge are extensive and his class could easily be considered a capstone. The semester project was one of the most challenging and rewarding projects of which I've been a part.
ADVICE
Any incoming student cannot go wrong with pursuing a degree from the Goddard School. I'm a bit partial to the SCM program, but I would advise any student to sample the different business disciplines to get a feel for what field of study best aligns with your skills and passion.
WHAT ARE YOUR CAREER ASPIRATIONS?
I currently work for TAB Bank, but I would love to find employment with a local manufacturer with ties to HAFB. I would like to gain experience in planning, procurement , and contracts.
