About General Studies
Weber State’s associate's degree in general studies offers a foundational education, equipping students with valuable skills and insight into various career paths. General studies students become well-rounded graduates through coursework in the humanities and creative arts, social sciences, and physical and life sciences. You will also become proficient in computer and information literacy, quantitative literacy and writing.
Benefits of a General Studies Degree
- Career Advancement: Boost your earning potential and job prospects. Some jobs require an associate's degree to be hired or to earn a promotion.
- Transferable Skills: Prepare for future academic and career opportunities.
- Pathway to a Bachelor's: Create a solid foundation for general education that seamlessly transfers credits to majors at WSU. Other universities within the Utah State Higher Education System will accept a WSU general studies associate's degree to fulfill the general education requirements of their bachelor’s degrees.
- Competitive Edge: Enhance your eligibility for competitive programs like those offered by the Dumke College of Health Professions.
- Flexibility and Exploration: Discover your interests and explore various academic areas.
General Studies Degree Options
You can choose between an Associate of Science (AS) or Associate of Arts (AA) degree. The AA requires proficiency in a foreign language. Both degrees can be completed online, although not all general education courses are offered online.
