Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation

Hispanic Heritage Month, which is celebrated Sep. 15-Oct. 15 each year, highlights the art, culture and stories of the Hispanic community on campus and in the surrounding area.

Calendar of Events



Sept. 15: Simón Bolívar, El Libertador de América (Sociedad Bolivariana de América del Norte). Historical conversation and real items from the time of the revolution. Student Services Building, Room 155, 4-6 p.m.

Sept. 15-Oct. 15: "Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation" Campaign for Educational Empowerment. Signs at WSU Ogden and Davis campuses.

Sept. 15-Oct. 15: “WSU Hispanic Heritage Month Traditional Attires Display: España, México, Salvador, Guatemala, Perú, Colombia, Paraguay and the Influence of Los Conquistadores.” Bookstore window in the Shepherd Union.

Sept. 15, 22, 29 & Oct. 6, 13: Thursdays of Heritage. Celebrate who you are by wearing traditional attire. Register at the Student Services Building, Room 150. Prizes for best attire or item. Winner announced at 5 p.m.

Sept. 20: Power Hour: Undocumented in the Pandemic. PBS Documentary and panel discussion with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) advocates and immigration attorneys. Shepherd Union, Wildcat Theater, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Sept. 21: Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Hispanic Student Senator Town Hall. Shepherd Union, 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Sept. 27: Masterclass with Jarabe Mexicano and WSU Ballet Folklórico. Shepherd Union Wildcat Theater, 4-6 p.m., free and open to the public.

Oct. 1-31: LatinArte, Artes de México en Utah, and Nuestras Raíces Hispanic, Latino/LatinX, Utah Artist. Social justice and immigration art exhibit, Shepherd Union, Bridge. Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

Oct. 4-5, 11: LatinAmérica Live Music featuring: harp, guitars, maracas, accordion and Mariachi. Shepherd Union, Atrium, Tracy Hall Plaza, and Arts and Humanities Building, 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Oct. 4: Caminando Unidos Alumni Lunch. Shepherd Union, Room 320, 12-2 p.m., open to all students.

Oct. 4-5: El Mercadito. Handcrafts from México, Guatemala, Perú, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Utah artisans, live music and more, Shepherd Union Atrium, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
