Electra Gamón Fielding, Ph.D. - Professor of Spanish and Translation
¡Hola!
I have been working as full-time faculty at Weber State University since fall 2011 in the Department of World Languages & Cultures. My research interests are varied and include women writers in Medieval and Early Modern Spain, the presence of Orientalized elements in Spanish cultural production, and translation studies. Although I specialize in the teaching and research of Spanish literature, culture and language, I also teach Medical Spanish and Medical Translation, emphasizing in my classes the importance of intercultural and linguistic competence in the medical field. For me, the best part about working at WSU is being in the classroom and getting to share my love of everything language-related with my students.
