Weber State University's Envisioneering Summer Bridge Program aims to strengthen Utah's workforce by providing tuition-free summer university courses for high school students. This 7-week program offers two free engineering and technology college classes, hands-on activities, tutoring, mentoring, and industry field trips.

Free College Classes

  • CS 1030 - Foundations of Computing
    Computers are an essential part of every occupation. Having a basic understanding of computers will help students become more confident users.  This course is taught at an introductory level and presents a broad overview of topics in computing such as personal digital security, ethical behaviors in education and business, how computers work and communicate with one another, how data is stored and used in a computer, and how to create a website and write a computer program.
  • Web 1400 - Web Design and Usability 

    Understand the technicalities of the World Wide Web and the Internet. Plan, design, and implement a successful web site using current web technologies. Topics covered include audience analysis, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, responsive design, usability and accessibility, testing, and analytics.

Cost

These college courses are tuition-free.

Who Should Apply?

Students going into 10th-12th grade starting in August 2025 (Students starting in 9th grade in August 2025 may be considered an exception). 
*Preference may be based on financial need with priority for first-generation students.

Program Objectives

  1. Create an environment where the majority of students finish and earn college credit.
  2. Increase student’s perceived sense of belonging on our college campus.
  3. Increase student’s perceived student confidence in ability to perform academically in rigorous STEM courses.
  4. Increase student awareness of STEM-disciplines and employment opportunities.
  5. Increase student awareness of on-campus student resources at Weber State University.
