Step 2: Apply (High School Students)

Early College Application Steps for Public, Private, and Charter School Students

  1. Make sure you have completed the Early College Information Session!
    • This will help provide you with some clarity and direction about next steps.
  2. Complete the Early College Admissions Application online with the assistance of a parent or legal guardian. Make sure to submit!
    • Pay the non-refundable $30 application fee as you complete the online admissions application.
      • If you encounter a problem with the payment system, you can contact WSU's Cashier's Office at 801-626-8006 to pay over the phone.
      • If you have previously applied to WSU as a Concurrent Enrollment student, you have already paid this fee and do not need to pay it again. 
  3. Send in your official high school transcript.
    • Contact your high school Registrar or Counselor to request that they send an official transcript directly to WSU Admissions.
  4. Submit your official ACT/SAT scores.
    • If you have already taken the ACT/SAT...
      • You may need to log in to your ACT/SAT account and request for the scores to be sent to WSU, if you haven't done so already.
      • If your high school has an official record of your scores, WSU can receive them directly from your official high school transcript as well.
    • If you have not yet taken the ACT...
      • WSU offers a Residual ACT that can be taken for admission into WSU. Contact WSU's Testing Center at 801-626-6803 or visit their website: weber.edu/testingcenter for more information.
  5. Submit the Parental Informed Consent Agreement after your parent or legal guardian has signed it.
    • A signature is only required for Part 1 to participate in the program. The other parts are optional.

Eligibility Requirements for Early College

All applicants must reside in Utah in order to participate in the Early College Program.

Sophomores

Have an Index Score** of 110 or higher and a cumulative GPA of a 3.25 or higher.

*Note: Sophomores may register for only 7 credits or two classes each semester starting in the fall of their 10th grade year.*

Juniors and Seniors

Have an Index Score** of 106 or higher and a cumulative GPA of a 3.25 or higher.

Please Note: Students applying for admissions in to the Early College Program as a high school student will need to provide a high school transcript from an accredited high school showing completed coursework equivalent to their high school graduation year.  In addition, proof of enrollment at the high school will need to be confirmed through the completion of the high school counselor contract.


Is there a deadline to apply to the Early College Program?

There is not a deadline to complete the application process; however, the sooner you apply, the better! We recommend you apply at least two weeks before the first day of the semester that you wish to begin taking courses. 


How will I know that I have been admitted?

You will receive an acceptance letter from WSU's Admissions Office within a week of them receiving all necessary documents.
