Early College

How Does It Work?

Early College allows high school students to earn college credit on one of Weber State’s campuses before high school graduation. Students must reside in Utah in order to participate in Early College.

Sophomores*
Have an Index Score of 110 or higher and a cumulative high school and WSU GPA of 3.25 or higher. Sophomores may register for only 7 credits or two classes each semester starting the fall of their 10th grade year.

Juniors and Seniors*
Have an Index Score of 106 or higher and a cumulative high school and WSU GPA of a 3.25 or higher.

*Early College admissions requirements are currently under review for the 2024-25 academic year. Please note that the requirements listed here may change.

Home-schooled students can utilize these alternative eligibility requirements if they do not have a high school GPA.

Students who do not meet the requirements above but would still like to be considered to join Early College can contact our office to discuss filing a petition for an exception to Early College policy.

Students applying for the Early College program as a high school student will need to provide a high school transcript from an accredited high school showing completed coursework equivalent to their high school graduation year. In addition, proof of enrollment at the high school will need to be confirmed through the completion of the high school counselor contract.

The sooner you apply for Early College, the better. We recommend starting the process as soon as possible to ensure that there is time to complete all the required steps.

The Spring 2024 application is closed.

For Summer 2024 applicants, steps 1-3 of the process must be completed by April 26th, 2024 and steps 4-5 must be completed by May 3rd, 2024.

Details regarding Fall 2024 admissions coming soon.

How Much Does It Cost?

Early College students pay tuition and fees just like regular WSU students. The amount of tuition and fees depends on the number of credit hours for which you register.

There are Early College Scholarships available that may be able to pay for the majority, if not all, of the cost of utilizing this opportunity!
