Stop the Hate

It's not about sensitive feelings. It's about respect.

Stop the Hate works to increase inclusiveness on campus by decreasing stigmatization and bringing awareness of disenfranchised populations to the Weber State campus and community.

Fall 2019 Sessions

Dude, What’s Your Problem?
Tuesday, September 17 | 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
Center for Diversity & Unity (SU 232)

Many of us use gendered language on a regular basis, frequently without realizing it, or sometimes even defending it, which can easily alienate people who do not fit under the implied gendering. WSUSA has made it a goal to use more inclusive language, and this seminar will discuss some of the most commonly used gendered language and replacements for those words.

Sex Work is Real Work
Tuesday, October 8 | 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
Center for Diversity & Unity (SU 232)

Sex workers are a terribly underrepresented group, commonly made up of the most disadvantaged people in the U.S. Why exactly are minority groups drawn towards or forced into sex work, and what can we do to help?

A Wonderful Day in the Neighborhood
Tuesday, November 12 | 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
Center for Diversity & Unity (SU 232)

Shows like Sesame Street, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, and other children's media were huge parts of our childhoods and helped us grow into more well-rounded adults. However, it's worth looking back upon these shows and seeing what we adults can learn from them today, and how they helped children feel like more than just a kid.
