Community Awareness

Community Awareness collaborates with community organizations and entities to create events that promote Diversity and Inclusivity. The goal of the programmed events is to provide access to community organizations in providing a platform to discuss issues within the community, educational opportunities, and resource activities to students on a monthly basis.

Fall 2019 Sessions

Kits for Immigrants
Wednesday, September 25 | 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Center for Diversity and Unity (SU 232)

Students are welcome to come and participate in assembling kits containing immigration information and basic necessities to help inform and prepare the community about their rights.

Frankenstein’s Closet
Saturday, October 25 | 4 - 8 p.m.
Center for Diversity and Unity (SU 232)

The WSUSA Diversity & Unity Board presents Frankenstein’s Closet! We will be gathering Halloween costumes (new or gently used) to set up a Closet for children to find, try on, and pick a costume for the year. Donations will be accepted from October 1st until October 23rd. Students are welcome to help prepare the costumes on October 23rd from 2:30 - 3:30. Frankenstein’s Closet will be open on October 25th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Hats for Homeless
Wednesday, November 20 | 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Center for Diversity & Unity (SU 232)

Students are welcome to come and get crafty as they make hats for the homeless. Come and learn how to make an easy hat and help out our community as it gets colder! Donations will be made to local shelters.
