Black Cultural Center

The mission of Weber State's Black Cultural Center is to supplement the academic endeavors and enrich the quality of campus life for all students who wish to learn more about African & Black Diaspora culture and identity. Integral to this mission are efforts to retain students by providing academic, professional and emotional development services to empower students to successfully complete their degree in a timely manner. The Black Cultural Center is committed to celebrating cultural diversity and serving all students, faculty, and the greater wildcat community interested in positively contributing to issues relating to the African & Black Diaspora culture and identity. It provides a space for all to seek knowledge, awareness, and to build cultural competencies necessary to interact and communicate in a global society.

Our new Black Cultural Center is restructuring how we serve our students. We want to provide opportunities for students to explore the African American/Black identity to encourage an authentic understanding while engaging in journeys of self-discovery. As our cultural center model grows, we will update this page and share the ways we are serving our students, faculty and staff. For questions, contact maryanshale@weber.edu or 801-626-7308.

WSU's Centers for Belonging & Cultural Engagement are spaces where students can experience a sense of community and belonging and engage in meaningful educational activities on campus. We strongly encourage students of every race, ethnic, and cultural background to participate in the various services, social activities, and educational opportunities offered in each cultural center throughout the year. All are welcome and we look forward to seeing you there!

The Black Cultural Center officially opened on February 28, 2024, in the Shepherd Union (SU 231)
