Science Summer Institute
The College of Science at Weber State is hosting a Summer Institute for high school biology and chemistry teachers to support the implementation of the UT SEEd Standards in high school science classes.
As a group, we will engage in several phenomenon-based episodes presented by WSU Science faculty that are both content-specific (DCI) and student-centered (Practices). We will reflect on our experiences as we continue to explore 3D science in the classroom through the fall with monthly seminars.
Participants will be expected to attend the Summer Institute the week of June 21-25 as well as implement their developing understanding of the SEEd Standards in their classroom and reflect on the experience with their peers. The hope is to support high school chemistry and biology teachers to make noticeable shifts in their teaching to better engage students with the science content.
Teachers who complete the program will have SEEd specific lessons, phenomenon-based resources, earn 3 WSU credit units, and work with a collaborative team of peers.
