Our minor in child development offers knowledge in issues regarding children and their families, which is essential for early childhood educators.
You will learn about the psychological, intellectual, social, and emotional development of children, from birth to adolescence, and gain practical experience working with young children.
If you are majoring in another field with a child and family concentration, (i.e. psychology, social work, sociology, etc.), the Child Development program adds depth to your course of study and reinforces your understanding of complex developmental processes.
You must maintain an overall GPA of 2.00 or "C" in courses used toward the minor. A minimum of 18 credit hours is required. At least six credits must be upper-division (courses numbered 3000 and above).
Early Childhood courses are offered face-to-face, online, and a hybrid format (a combination of traditional face-to-face instruction and online learning).
