Special Education

At WSU Charter Academy, we respect the dignity and diversity of each child in our school by working with parents to meet the unique needs of each student.

Our Special Education Team works closely with the teachers and administration to identify and meet the individual needs of our students. We implement specialized instruction through the use of evidence-based practices to provide opportunities for students to succeed in the Least Restrictive Environment.

WSU Charter Academy complies with all state and federal regulations by providing a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) as identified under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Students are admitted to WSU Charter Academy based solely on the lottery and other requirements under the Utah Code and the USBE Administrative Rules for Charter Schools — not based on race, color, gender, national origin, disability status or religion.

For more information about special education at WSU Charter Academy, you can review our Special Education Policies and Procedures. We invite you to direct further questions to our special education director Kate Jacobson at katejacobson6@gmail.com or our principal Camie Bearden at cbearden@weber.edu.

Carson Smith Special Needs Scholarship Program
